**[2021-02-05T00:18:30] Andrew Rambaut:** We are currently looking at whether 484K is starting to appear more frequently (in multiple backgrounds) than it did before or whether we just have more cases and more sequencing.

**[2021-02-05T00:20:17] Edward C. Holmes:** Yes, very interesting question. That we are seeing it in Australia is perhaps tell-tale.

**[2021-02-05T00:20:24] Andrew Rambaut:** For your case I would say it is irrelevant with respect to action that it is a recent cluster - just that it has 484K. I.e., itis not a 'cluster of concern' but it has a mutation of concern.

**[2021-02-05T00:21:12] Andrew Rambaut:** If you look at the number of States that cluster spans - it does suggest widespread transmission in the US.

**[2021-02-05T00:21:37] Andrew Rambaut:** But everything has been spreading like crazy in the US

**[2021-02-05T00:23:22] Edward C. Holmes:** I think the local health people just like to be doing stuff. Hopefully this person gets put in a room at the end of thecorridor.
