**[2021-01-27T01:55:36] Andrew Rambaut:** The question is whether the progenitor of SC2 is endemic in Chinese pangos or Malaysian ones and is being imported. I think Chinese pangos are pretty thin on the ground these days for obvious reasons.

**[2021-01-27T02:00:13] Robert F. Garry:** Good points Andrew - China imports a LOT of pangos from Africa too, so we're on a full court press to see if we can find any pango covs there...

**[2021-01-27T02:00:22] Edward C. Holmes:** The Yunnan pango sequence is close to those from Guangxi. Serology suggests positive animals in Thailand and Malaysia (i.e. Tommy).
