# Transcript

**[2020-06-08T08:03:12] Robert F. Garry:** Gonna really have to take a look at this whole science by twitter thing. As for the NatMed paper attacks - you'll know you've actually made it when a bunch of "dudes" think they can make their careers by trashing you.

**[2020-06-08T08:20:53] Andrew Rambaut:** For those who actually use their photos there is a definite 'look' for these people.

**[2020-06-08T08:31:43] Robert F. Garry:** Seems the Forbes article has been yanked... [shared file(s): image.png]

**[2020-06-08T08:36:07] Andrew Rambaut:** It got yanked almost immediately after Eddie posted his tweet last night.

**[2020-06-08T08:36:16] Andrew Rambaut:** Such power

**[2020-06-08T08:36:50] Robert F. Garry:** Omega level mutant.

**[2020-06-08T08:46:11] Robert F. Garry:** The fact that Trevor's tweet storm and Nate's countertweet both landed immediately in the NYTimes is rather concerning at least to me.

**[2020-06-08T08:47:30] Kristian G. Andersen:** Link to NYT article? That is SUPER concerning.

**[2020-06-08T08:47:50] Andrew Rambaut:** @Andrew Rambaut I.e., https://twitter.com/ChuziChips

**[2020-06-08T08:48:42] Andrew Rambaut:** @Andrew Rambaut "no you smell"

**[2020-06-08T08:48:57] Robert F. Garry:** https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/07/us/Protest-coronavirus-george-floyd.html

**[2020-06-08T08:49:58] Robert F. Garry:** Amy Harmon is a national correspondent, covering the intersection of science and society. She has won two PulitzerPrizes, for her series "The DNA Age", and as part of a team for the series "How Race Is Lived inAmerica." @amy_harmon • Facebook

**[2020-06-08T08:52:31] Kristian G. Andersen:** Amy Harmon - yes, she should know better. It's worth pointing out the Trevor isn't an epidemiologist - same for Nate, myself, and many others - the only one who's an epidemiologist in that article is Marc. One thing is to report basedon tweets (which is wrong), another is doing it when the person isn't a subject-matter expert - I find that really problematic, especially for something this important. Science by Twitter is not the way to deal with these types ofquestions...

**[2020-06-08T08:53:39] Kristian G. Andersen:** I still see the Forbes article - https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidnikel/2020/06/07/norway-scientist-claims-report-proves-coronavirus-was-lab-made/#46c2c45b121d

**[2020-06-08T08:54:03] Kristian G. Andersen:** Apparently written by their top science journalist... [shared file(s): Screen Shot 2020-06-08 at 8.53.24 AM.png]
